Information
Every Student applying to the graduate program at
Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi must submit an aptitude
test score depending on the major being chosen. College of Business
requires the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score while
all the other schools require Graduate Record Examination score.
In addition to the GRE or GMAT, an applicant whose
native language is not English must submit a Test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. A minimum score of 550 on the
paper based test or 213 on the computer based test is required.
Official TOEFL scores may not be older than two years. An applicant
holding either a bachelor's or a master's degree from an accredited
U.S. college or university is not required to submit a TOEFL score.
PLEASE NOTE: Conditional Admission
will be given to the students for one semester during which they
can take the required tests to become eligible to register for the
following semesters. International students must have all scores
submitted prior to admission.
Graduate
Record Examination (GRE)
The GRE General Test measures verbal,
quantitative, and analytical reasoning skills that have been developed
over a long period of time and are not necessarily related to any
particular field of study. The GRE General Test is now administered
only as a computer-adaptive test (CAT).
The General Test contains one 30-minute verbal session, one 45-minute
quantitative section, and one 60-minute analytical section. In addition,
an unidentified pretest section and/or an identified research section
may be included. Answers to questions in the pretest and research
sections do not count toward your score.
How to register for GRE:
- Register by Phone - call Sylvan Candidate Services
at 1-800-GRE-CALL. If you are calling from the local area the
number is (361) 993-3793. You must have a VISA, MasterCard, or
American Express Card to use this option.
- Register by Mail - Obtain a registration bulletin
from the Admissions Office. The bulletin will contain all of the
information you will need to register.

Graduate Management
Admission Test (GMAT)
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
measures general verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills
that are developed over a long period of time. It is designed to
help graduate schools of business assess the qualifications of applicants
for advanced study in business and management. The GMAT does not
presuppose any specific knowledge of business or of other specific
content areas. It does not measure achievement in any particular
subject area.
The GMAT is now administered only as a computer-adaptive test (CAT).
Test fees for the GMAT may vary according to the country in which
the test will be administered. You can obtain current test fee and
other service fee information at the GMAT Web Site.
How to register for GMAT:

American Express card, or voucher number handy, and call 1-800-GMAT-NOW

Test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
The purpose of the TOEFL (Test of English
as a Foreign Language) test is to evaluate the English proficiency
of people whose native language is not English. The test uses a
multiple-choice format to measure the ability to understand North
American English.
The test consists of three sections:
- Listening Comprehension - Measures ability to
understand English as it is spoken in North America.
- Structure and Written Expression - Measures ability
to recognize language that is appropriate for standard written
English.
- Reading Comprehension - Measures ability to understand
non-technical reading matter.

Medical College Admission
Test [MCAT]
The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
is a standardized, multiple-choice examination designed to assess
problem solving, critical thinking, and writing skills in addition
to the examinee's knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite
to the study of medicine. Scores are reported in each of the following
areas: Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample, and
Biological Sciences. Medical college admission committees consider
MCAT scores as part of their admission decision process.
