JoAnn Canales JoAnn earned a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Houston in 1973, a Master's Degree in Bilingual Education with a minor in Spanish in 1978 from Laredo State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual Education in 1985 from The University of Texas at Austin. She began her academic career at the University of North Texas in 1989 as an assistant professor in the College of Education where she also served as Director of the Center for Collaborative Research. Beginning in 1994, she was associate professor at the University of Colorado at Denver where she also served as Interim Associate Dean facilitating the establishment of university school partnerships in the graduate teacher preparation program. In August of 1998, she accepted the position of Coordinator of Teacher Education and Associate Professor at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi where she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the field-based teacher education program. In 2001, she was promoted to full professor and in 2002-2003 she was recognized as a Fellow in the American Council on Education Leadership Training Program. From 2003-2005, she served as the inaugural Assessment Fellow awarded by the TAMUCC Faculty Renaissance Council, engaging the university community on issues related to assessment and facilitating the development of assessment/accountability skills within the university community. She has also shared her expertise internationally with extensive work in Mexico, Canada,Trinidad/Tobago and Peru. JoAnn was also recognized for her teaching as the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award for 2005-2006. She has served as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies from 2007 to 2013. She cuurently the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies
Sandra Kureska Sandra Kureska is a Corpus Christi native. She is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi earning both her BBA and MS in Educational Administration. She has been employed in the higher education field for 16 years. Before entering the higher education field, she worked at the Corpus Christi Police Department for eight years. Sandra is married with three children and is blessed to have her 3 year old niece, Lillian be part of her family.
Norma Cantu Norma has been a native of South Texas all her life. She has worked at the University since 1989. Norma has many years of experience and a long history of academic policy and process. She has a daughter, Stephanie and a grandson, Dominic who she enjoys spending time with.
Maria Martinez Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Maria earned an associate's degree in Legal Assisting from Del Mar in 1993. She started working for the university in June of 1997 and was able to continue on with her studies, eventually earning a bachelor's degree in English in 2002. Maria is now the Graduate Admissions Coordinator for the Office of Research & Graduate Studies and is working on a master's degree in Communication
Timothy Boulan Timothy Boulan is from the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan. He settled down in Corpus Christi after serving for 24 years in the U.S. Navy. He has been working for Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Research and Graduate Studies for more than 5 years as a Computer Programmer. He enjoys his work with the wonderful people at the Research and Graduate Studies. He is married with a beautiful wife Yoshiko and a sweet daughter named Stella.
Juan Garzon Cassondra was born and raised in Corpus Christi. She began working at the University in June of 2007, while earning a bachelor's degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. Cassondra is now the Graduate Studies Coordinator for the College of Graduate Studies and is working on a master's degree in Public Administration. She has two basset hounds, Sir Charles and Lord Roscoe.
