The Superintendency Certification Program emphasizes the knowledge and skills for prospective district-level administrators to succeed in the 21st century.

  • Complete your 15 credits in 9 months, or apply them to a doctorate in Educational Leadership.
  • Balance class and practicum experience while continuing your work responsibilities in our cohort model designed for working professionals.

Domestic Students:

Application requirements

Complete Application for Admission:
  • Apply for Admission via Apply Texas Application
  • An applicant may defer admission to an earlier/later semester. Applications are valid for one year. One deferral is allowed per application.
Application fee:
  • $50 for US citizen, $70 for International Students

Please Note: Applicants who wish to apply for a different program will be required to submit a new application. The application processing fee is required for each application submitted.

Requirements:

Application requirements specific to this program :

  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work taken at any accredited college or University attended (International applicants will be required to submit relevant International transcripts to one of the five Foreign Evaluation companies listed in the New International student section of admissions. Based on the official Foreign Evaluation, official International transcripts may also be required for auditing and verification purposes.)
  • The student must have a master's degree
  • Must have principal certification or Texas Education Agency approval for district leadership experience in lieu of principal certification
  • Background disclosure form (pdf)
  • Background disclosure form with Texas Educator's Code of Ethics & FERPA consent (pdf)

*Please allow 3-5 business days to receive Student ID before submitting additional supporting documents.

Submit all supporting documents to Graduate Admissions. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the institution issuing credit either through the mail in a sealed, untampered envelope signed by the Registrar or through an official electronic server such as Parchment, eScript, National Student Clearing House, or Speede.

Beginning with the Fall 2020 intake, applicants will also need to submit:

  • The student must submit an essay through ApplyTexas or emailed as a PDF attachment to gradweb@tamucc.edu answering the following prompt: “In 300-500 words, Explain why you are seeking Superintendent Certification. How will this certification help you achieve your professional goals??”
  • The student must submit their official Educator Work Service Record from their current or most recent employing school district listing all years of experience to gradweb@tamucc.edu
