- An applicant may defer admission to an earlier/later semester. Applications are valid for one year. One deferral is allowed per paid application.
Application fee:
- $50 for US citizen, $70 for International Students
Please Note: Applicants who wish to apply for a different program will be required to submit a new application. The application processing fee is required for each application submitted.
Requirements:
Application requirements specific to Addictions Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling.
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work taken at any accredited college or University attended (Foreign College credits/transcripts require an official foreign evaluation. Please click here). TAMU-CC transcript is not required.
- Essay (500-700 word written essay, including one’s personal/professional career plans, goals, and a statement indicating one’s ability to work individually and in groups with diverse populations. Note: Essay requirements are specific to Counseling MS)
- Face-to-face interview with admissions committee
- Three references submitted through the M.S Counseling Reference Rating Form
Application requirements specific to Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Hispanic Mental Health Emphasis (Online Program)
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work taken at any accredited college or University attended (Foreign College credits/transcripts require an official foreign evaluation. TAMU-CC transcript is not required.
- Three references submitted through the M.S Counseling Reference Rating Form
- Virtual interview with the admissions committee
- 500-750-word essay addressing the following four prompts:
- Describe your interest in becoming a professional counselor.
- Describe your interest in Hispanic mental health.
- This program focuses on clinical mental health counseling practices for working with Hispanic clients/students. How does this program’s emphasis fit your personal goals and professional career plan?
- Describe your digital literacy and the skills that would allow you to succeed in an online learning environment.
Applicants who do not meet the requirements for full admission into the department may be admitted on conditional status and take courses approved by the faculty.

Additional International Applicant Requirements
Application requirements for international applicants:
- Copy of current Visa (if applicable)
- English Language Proficiency. TAMUCC currently accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the last 2 years :
- Official TOEFL score minimum paper-based score of 550 or internet-based score of 79-80
- Official IELTS score minimum 6.5
